A new sustainable department store has opened in London’s Mayfair.
Called The Good Store, the shop offers a range of clothing, health and beauty, and homeware products, whilst also promoting environmental and community projects aimed at changing places and lives for good.
Occupying a 6,000 square foot unit on South Molton Street, The Good Store has rethought the conventional department store by focusing on reuse and refurbishment as well as plastic-free and sustainably sourced products.
The furniture department features Jay & Co, the restoration furniture business founded by Jay Blades of BBC’s Repair Shop, as well as Think Found, which sources hardwood fallen or felled in London.
The shop also includes spaces for vintage and second hand clothing charity Traid and upcycled and sustainable clothing brands Elvis and Kresse, Been London and Wyatt & Jack.
Other brands with a presence at the store include Waterhaul, Up Circle, Stroodles and Green Toys.
The Good Store concept has been created by Grosvenor partner Groundwork London, one of a federation of charities that aims to mobilise community action on poverty and the environment across the UK.
The shop also features furniture from Groundwork’s own workshops, The Loops, a range of refurbished bicycles by Westminster Wheels, and premium refurbished white goods by Groundwork’s Rework employment programme.
