Superdrug is celebrating National Beauty Bin Day as it reaches the milestone of five years since the first Beauty Bank bin was installed in its stores.
The bins enable shoppers to donate gifts and hygiene products for distribution to charities that help people living in hygiene poverty.
The partnership has resulted in nearly 100 Beauty Bank bins being added to Superdrug stores across the UK. So far, thousands of products have been donated through 600 registered charities.
To celebrate the milestone, Superdrug and Beauty Banks have teamed up with a host of celebrities, influencers and beauty experts, including presenter and Radio 6 DJ Lauren Laverne and author Caitlin Moran, to drive donations and raise awareness of hygiene poverty.
Beauty Banks reported an 80% increase in demand for services last year due to the rising cost of living. The products most needed by people living in hygiene poverty include toothpaste and toothbrushes, genderless shower gels and soaps, moisturisers, hairbrushes and hair products, shaving gel, sanitary products and nappies.
