Retail giant Marks and Spencer has opened its biggest franchise store in the heart of Waterloo station in partnership with SSP.
The store, which covers 9,500 sq ft (883 sq m) and is over two floors, offers food on the ground floor and its clothing selection on the first floor.
M&S are also offering a click and collect service where customers get access to the whole M&S catalogue. They will be able to order in-store or online and collect from the Waterloo branch.
M&S have been in partnership with SSP since 2001 when they opened their first M&S Simply Food store in Liverpool Street station and now have around 60 stores across the UK.
As well as opening the largest franchise store, M&S is also featuring its classic British food range Tastes of the British Isles, which will include items such as Swiss Roll, Taffety Tart and Fidget Pie. Other items that will be making an appearance will be sweet shop tastes in desserts and unusual snacks such as Earl Grey biscuits and a spiced loaf.
Sandra Ziles, M&S head of product development said: ‘It’s about time we celebrate our wonderful culinary history, which is why we’ve developed a collection that showcases our country’s unique tastes at their best.’ Adding ‘We had great fun developing this range, and have come up with some quirky creations like the Ploughman’s Pork Pie, Battenberg Biscuits, Damson Lemonade Jelly and a delicious Pea & Mint Vodka – literally the taste of the Summer in a bottle.’
