Sainsbury’s is to launch a two-day pop-up in London’s Kings Cross where it will offer busy commuters a healthy grab-and-go meal kit for two for just 50p.
With all proceeds from the sales being donated to Comic Relief, the move forms part of the supermarket’s Nourish the Nation programme with the charity in which it will donate 50p for every product sold from its Inspired to Cook range in-store and online until 11 July. Launched on 31 May, the six-week drive will contribute at least £3 million to the programme this summer.
Called DINspiration, the pop-up will be situated outside London Kings Cross station on 26 and 27 June from 5pm to 7pm. The meal kits contain ingredients from the retailer’s Inspired to Cook range, alongside fresh ingredients and recipes needed to cook the meals at home.
The idea for the pop-up followed research by Sainsbury’s which found that 74% of commuters think about what to have for dinner on their journey home. Furthermore, some 63% of those surveyed said they struggle to come up with healthy meal options due to a lack of inspiration.
Working in partnership with Comic Relief, Sainsbury’s Nourish the Nation programme supports organisations such as Feeding Britain and The Bread and Butter Thing in their work to help alleviate food poverty in communities across the country.
