Primark is to invest over €250 million in Ireland by upgrading stores and building a new distribution centre.
Operating as Penneys in the country, the fashion retailer will spend €60 million on its Patrick Street store in the city of Cork, €20 million on its Eyre Square shop in Galway, and €75 million on a new distribution centre in County Kildare.
In addition, the company is planning to open a new 43,000 square foot shop in south Dublin next year to bring the total number of Penneys stores in Ireland to 37
In the next three years, Penneys is expecting to grow its workforce by 12% in Ireland. This will include the creation of 600 retail jobs. It is also planning to recruit for 100 new roles at its head office which is situated above the Penneys store on Dublin’s Mary Street.
