Marks & Spencer’s food business is locking the prices of over 100 most popular items until the end of January.

The retailer said the initiative complements its Remarksable Value range that already includes over 100 benchmarked everyday staples.

The move follows the release of M&S’s latest Family Matters Index where 61% of those surveyed said they believe value is the single most important factor when deciding where to shop. The findings also reveal that 62% of UK adults have either stopped or reduced spending on eating out in the last six months and that 59% have cut back on takeaways.

M&S is also introducing a new £10 Steak Night Dine In for two offer that aims to give customers restaurant quality food at a fraction of the price. The deal includes a twin pack of M&S 21-day matured steaks alongside the choice of a side dish and sauce.

The retailer has sold more than 200 million Dine In meals since launching the offer in 2008 when value was front of mind for families.  Earlier this year, it announced a new always-on Family Dine In deal for four featuring globally inspired cuisines.
