Lidl GB is to introduce new vacuum-packed, recyclable packaging across its beef mince range.

The supermarket said the move will result in a plastic reduction of almost two thirds and will double the shelf life of the product from eight to around 16 days.  In addition, the smaller packs will provide a valuable space saving which will also result in up to 350 delivery trucks being taken off the road per year.

Packs will also include an easy peel film to enable customers to avoid touching the raw meat.

Lidl will make the change at the beginning of next year.
