Lidl is to offer a finders fee to members of the public who are successful in helping it to identify sites for new stores.

The supermarket is investing £1.3 billion in expanding its store portfolio across 2021 and 2022 and publishes an annual list of locations where it is interested in acquiring sites for potential store developments.

Members of the public who successfully identify sites will be rewarded with a fee of either 1.5% of the total freehold purchase price or 10% of the first year’s rent for leaseholds, which would equate to £22,500 for a completed £1.5 million site purchase.

Lidl has already opened 23 new stores so far this year in places such as Warwick, Hounslow and Straiton.

Members of the public who know of potential sites are being encouraged to check details against Lidl’s site requirements and to contact the supermarket’s property team.

The list of towns and cities where Lidl is interested in opening stores includes places like:

  • Bristol
  • Derby
  • Liverpool
  • London
  • Manchester
