Greggs has announced that Roisin Currie will become its new chief executive when Roger Whiteside retires in May.
The news follows a search process that included both internal and external candidates,.
Currently Greggs’ retail and property director, Currie is responsible for the company’s retail operations across the UK and its central support team. She also leads the development of Greggs’ shop estate and its growing delivery business which it operates in partnership with Just Eat.
Prior to joining Greggs in 2010, she held people director roles at Asda with responsibility for the supermarket’s retail and distribution operations.
In the interim period pending her appointment to her new role, Currie will become chief executive designate and will also be an executive director from 1 February. Meanwhile, Whiteside will remain available to support the transition process until his notice expires on 5 January 2023.
