Debenhams’ £25 million refurbishment of its flagship store on Oxford street hit profits by £2 million after approximately 10% of its floor space was shut. The redevelopment includes a new floor and three new restaurants.

The retailer, whose 200th anniversary falls on Christmas Day this year, has launched a range of limited edition designer pieces as part of an increase in marketing to mark the celebrations.
