David’s Bridal has entered administration hours after its owner filed for bankruptcy.

The news follows the recent announcement by the US retailer that it was to lay off more than 9,000 employees.

In a statement, the retailer said the business will continue to operate as normal with its stores staying open and its online platforms, including its Pearl platform and vendor marketplace will remaining “available and accessible to brides.” It will also continue to honour gift cards, returns and exchanges at this time.

In the UK, David’s Bridal has stores in London, Glasgow, Birmingham and Watford.

The retailer is continuing to explore a potential sale of the business.
