The parent company of fashion retailers Whistles and Phase Eight has acquired women's fashion and online retailer Damsel in a Dress.

The acquisition is the third by TFG London in the past two years, as the company continues to expand and strengthen its UK fashion portfolio.

TFG London chief executive Ben Barnett said: “We continue to see significant opportunities for both organic and acquisitive growth in the UK market.

“We are delighted with the strong growth in our portfolio of brands over the last 12 months and look forward to a further year of sales and profit progression in 2017.”

As part of the purchase, Damsel in a Dress will be led by a new team.

Damsel in a Dress was founded in 2010 and raked in over £7 million in sales in 2016.

As well as online, the brand also has concessions in House of Fraser and John Lewis.

TFG London managing director Lee Harlow said: “We see significant opportunity to develop the Damsel in a Dress brand in the UK and internationally, leveraging the network and relationships established within Phase Eight and Whistles.

“Today’s acquisition represents a further step on our journey to build a successful international brand portfolio.”
