Asda has announced that its hourly paid store staff will be able to request a paid day off on the 8 May Bank Holiday to enable them to participate in the ‘Big Help Out’.

In addition, over 380 Asda Community Champions across the UK will be arranging litter picks in places such as parks, community centres, beaches and canals  to support the national day of volunteering that marks the King’s coronation.

Staff wishing to participate in the ‘Big Help Out’ will be able to book a day off while still being paid and their holiday entitlement will not be affected. Staff members who choose to work on Monday 8 May will receive double time.

Asda will be publicising details of the ‘Big Help Out’ events on community boards in-store and customers can also download the ‘Big Help Out’ app.

In addition, Asda will be “surprising” 10 coronation inspired community projects across the country with funding.
