The grocer Asda has appointed Alex Russo as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Former Tesco man Russo will take up the role from 6 January when Richard Mayfield begins a new post as CFO of Walmart’s EMEA region

Russo, who has a strong background in international retail, has previously worked as independent director at Peru-based Delosi, which specialises in restaurant franchises, as well as CFO of Tesco’s South Korean business.

Asda president Andy Clarke commented: “With a strong pedigree as an international retail leader, Alex is a great addition to the Asda team. He will play a crucial role in delivering our new strategic priorities.”
