Aldi is stepping up its search for new sites across the UK as continues the roll out out of new stores.

The retailer is planning to invest more than £400 million in store development over the coming year and is looking to open new build and refurbished stores across the Midlands, North West, North East, Yorkshire and coastal towns.

Aldi currently operates more than 990 supermarkets, but is aiming to have a total 1,200 to help it reach more shoppers.

It is particularly keen to identify freehold town-centre or edge-of-town sites that span around 1.5 acres and can accommodate a 20,000 square foot store with around 100 parking spaces.

Aldi will offer a finder’s fee of either 1.5% of a freehold price or 10% of the first year’s rent for leasehold sites to agents who recommend a suitable site.
