Aldi is rolling out a partnership with surplus food platform Too Good To Go following a successful trial.
The supermarket is now offering surplus food bags across its 990 UK stores as a means of tackling food waste while also helping customers to save money.
Priced at £3.30 each, the ‘Magic Bags’ will include a range of grocery products that are approaching their sell-by or use-by dates, and will contain at least £10 worth of food.
To purchase the bags, shoppers need to download the free Too Good To Go app and search for their nearby Aldi store. They can then reserve a bag to collect from the store at an allotted time.
Aldi said the move is expected to save a further 4,000 tonnes of food from going to waste each year and will form a key part of its ongoing commitment to cut food waste.
