About the opportunity:

The Head of Facilities and Maintenance will lead a team of three direct reports to manage our portfolio of circa 300 restaurants. Each direct report would be accountable for 100 restaurants each with this role overseeing the entire F&M function.

This role will is responsible for the overall operation of maintenance, facilities, repair, contractor management and coordination with the BKUK Construction team, providing direct oversight and strategic leadership to facility and maintenance operations. This includes organising logistics and staffing for all maintenance activities, managing the FM maintenance budget, prioritising repair planning, within existing and new company properties.

What you'll do:

Actively collaborate with the Heads of Construction, and Property, along with Operations Directors and Finance Business Partners in the strategic planning and budgeting of the Company’s facility and improvement objectives.

Planning of the annual facility maintenance Opex and Capital budget plans for all restaurants including Whopper Support (Head Office).

Plan and deliver a strategic FM plan that targets specific, measurable goals for the FM team and annual maintenance budgets including monthly reporting.

Provide on-site assessments of existing restaurant facilities and equipment, deliver reports and scopes of work ensuring that facility deficiencies are handled timely in order to avoid business disruption.

Engage and manage contractors and service suppliers to execute, repair and deliver maintenance projects and roll-out support where required.

Ensure that all service suppliers are in full compliance with company insurance requirements, etc. (can be achieved through the Access Platform)

Negotiate and manage planned maintenance framework agreements.

Review and negotiate cost of repairs and replacements to ensure maintenance commitments are met and on budget.

Implement best practices to improve the Company’s oversight and management of its assets and ensure optimal utilisation of personnel and resources.

Foster and develop supplier accounts for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and kitchen equipment maintenance, as well as other supplier accounts as needed. Including 6 month review meetings / contractor days.

Collaborate and communicate best practice, planned work and repair and maintenance projects to maximise efficiency.

Focus areas of work in existing facilities and equipment include lighting, flooring, walls, ceilings, doors, seating, menu and sign systems, food preparation and refrigeration equipment, HVAC and exhaust systems, plumbing and grease containment, refrigeration, cooking equipment, building fabric and parking areas – within demise.

Identify building and system problems that can be eliminated through improved design or construction practices – collaboration with Construction.

Train and coach operators, corporate staff, and contractors.

Ensure all maintenance work is conducted in a structured, organised, efficient, and economic fashion, without sacrificing public safety or the Company’s quality standards.

Support, coach and nurture a competent and well-trained maintenance leadership team.

Develop and/or review policies, procedures and programs, identify and resolve issues, and develop compliance and implementation strategies which affect the development of capital improvement plans.

Ensure all equipment, materials and procedures utilised during all the engineering functions are suitable, safe and in accordance with relevant standards and company requirements.
Conduct annual audits on maintenance and inventory processes at sites within the BKUK Group.

What you'll have:

HNC or HND qualification in Building/Civil Engineering, Electrical/MechanicalEngineering, Building Science, Construction Management or related discipline.
Management level qualification in Health and Safety, and Environment (e.g. SMSTS)
IOSH certificate holder

Sound knowledge of PPM and Reactive Maintenance regimes

Level 2 Electrical qualification or higher
Ideally with a minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management, construction management, or design of restaurant, in retail or commercial buildings.
