Asda, a principal partner in the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show have raised £2,336,842.72 for the charity.
Asda’s total was announced following a ‘thank you’ film for all colleagues and customers who have donated, which featured staff from Asda Runcorn talking about where the money will go.
The money raised by Asda will go towards BBC Children in Need’s Emergency Essentials Programme which supports children and young people who are living in severe poverty, without the use of basic facilities that most of us take for granted. The Programme also helps to support families and individuals living with additional pressures such as domestic violence, disability, or poor health.
The support of ASDA’s colleagues and customers will make a huge difference for some of the most disadvantaged children across the country who are struggling to cope without basic everyday items such as, a bed to sleep in, a cooker to provide a hot meal, clothing and other items and services that are critical to their wellbeing.
Over the past 21 years, Asda has raised more than £28million for BBC Children in Need.
